Allah SWT has made the Holy Quran a sacred and revered book. It is the 4th and Final Heavenly Manuscript, which was revealed over a 23-year period to the Last Prophet, Muhammad . It stands
apart from all other books in the world because it was written by the Almighty Lord Himself, who says:
The Creator of the Universe declares in the above-mentioned Ayah that He is the Sole Author of this wonderful form of Revelation and that He will defend it. The marvel of Furqan e Hameed is that, even after 1400 years, not a single letter or word has been changed in this Blessed Volume, unlike earlier religious texts that have changed with time.
Because Allah SWT created these Saintly Instructions, their recitation necessitates the adoption of a large number of Adab (Etiquettes) by us Muslims.
The following are some of the most important aspects of reading the Holy Quran:
1. Sincerity & Clear Intentions
Sincerity and reading from a pure heart are the most important aspects of reading the Holy Quran. It is a necessary requirement for any deed to be accepted by Allah (SWT).
2. Being In State Of Cleanliness And Wudu
Cleanliness and Wadu are required before reading the Quran (Ablution).
It signifies that before reciting the Quran, your clothes and body should be clean, and you should ablution. Prophet Muhammad refers to cleanliness as “Half of Faith” (P.B.U.H).
Before reciting, brush your teeth with a wooden tooth stick (Siwak), clean between your teeth, and freshen your mouth.
3. Sitting in a Respectful Place and Behaving Respectfully
Because the Quran have descended from the Heavens, one must pay proper respect to it by sitting in a good and upright position. Furthermore, one must sit in a respectful and devout manner while holding the Holy Quran in their hands in order to demonstrate the needed level of great regard for this Holy Book.
4. Holding The Sacred Book in Right Hand
Always keep in mind that the book you’re reading isn’t average. The Lord’s book is the greatest book in the world and in heaven. Because it is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, you should hold the Holy Quran in your right hand with utmost love and respect (PBUH).
5. Put the Quran on a High Position.
The Holy Book of Allah is clearly worthy of reverence. As a result, keeping it in your lap while reading is not suggested. It is exceedingly shameful and regarded a sin to place the Holy Quran on the floor.
Placing the Quran on a nice and clean pillow is the greatest practice. A separate table for reading the Quran is another option. You should think about getting one.
6. Seeking Refuge with Allah upon Starting Recitation
The Holy Quran necessitates intense concentration. Because Satan is always around to distract the reciter, it is recommended to begin with reciting two duas called “Isti’aza” and “Basmala.”
“Audhu Billahi mina-Shaitan-nir-Rajeem,” says Isti’aza. (From Satan, the Accursed, I seek refuge with Allah.)
“Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim,” says Basmala. (In God’s name, most kind and compassionate.)
If you’re starting from the middle of a Surah, merely read ” Isti’aza “; if you’re starting from the beginning, read both ” Isti’aza ” and ” Basmala.”
7. Recite in a Lovely Tone
You should remember that you are reading the Lord’s book while reciting the Holy Quran. As a result, while reading the Quran, you should improve your tone and use a loud voice.
However, you should not enhance the beauty of your voice in reciting the Quran to the point of breaking the Tajweed regulations, as this is prohibited.
Similarly, you should not read the Quran all at once. To better understand and connect with what is being stated, read each ayah gently.
- Follow Tajweed rules
The holy Quran must be recited with extreme caution to ensure proper pronunciation and Tajweed.
Tajweed is the understanding of recitation norms and their application when reciting the Quran. It clarifies that each letter should be given its proper place in the meaning. It includes instructions on how to pronounce Quranic Arabic letters, when to halt recitation, when not to, when to pause, when to extend pronunciation, and more.
An online Quran academy, such as Quranforkids.com, may teach you how to read the Quran correctly using Tajweed standards.
- Avoiding from Talking While Reciting The Quran
Due to immense significance of the Holy Quran, one must not break the momentum of recital process by sitting in a quiet corner, away from all kinds of distractions and avoid talking to anybody. It is also important because one should not converse about the worldly matters while reading the Sacred Book of Allah SWT as this act might lead to satanic influence.10. Praise Allah SWTAt the end of a recital process, one is advised to say the following:
“Sadaqa Allaahu aaleyul Azeem”
“The Highest, the Mighty Allah spoke the truth.”
It is the testimony of the Holy Quran being Authentic and Wordings of Allah SWT.
In short, these are some of the foremost ethics and etiquettes of reading the Sacred Book of the Almighty Lord which must be fulfilled in order to pay the required level of homage to the Holy Quran and understand it in the best way.
